Service Description
Do you have a sewing machine collecting dust and you want to put it to good use? Have you always wanted to sew but didn't want to invest in a machine before you tried it out? This class is for you! Learn the parts of your machine and how they work, learn the lingo surrounding the "mystery" of sewing and make a very useful pillowcase all while enjoying the company of other like-minded creative people! Please read our Classroom Basic Supply List and Classroom Etiquette Sheets before signing up for any classes. You can find them under the Classes Tab above. Please bring the following tools to class: • Sewing machine in good working order. Please test the machine prior to class. The instructor does not have time to trouble shoot a machine that does not work. Don’t forget the power cord and foot pedal. • One Empty Bobbin • Thread (100% Cotton, 40-50 wt) • Scissors • Pins • Seam Ripper Skills covered in this class include winding a bobbin, threading your machine, checking the tension, stitching both forward and backward, creating a French Seam and more. By the end of the class, you will complete a couple small varying projects for practice and a standard size pillowcase as your large project. Below, you will find additional supplies necessary to complete these projects. We truly appreciate your support of our business by purchasing your supplies from us. Project #1: Pillowcase (Stitched in Schertz offers pre-selected kits at the time of class. $15) • 3⁄4 yard main pillowcase fabric (27” x width of fabric from selvage to selvage) • 1⁄4 yard cuff fabric (9” x width of fabric from selvage to selvage) • Accent strip fabric (2” x width of fabric from selvage to selvage) • Coordinating or neutral color thread (neutral colors include white, tan, gray, etc.)
