Intro to Machine Sewing for Teens
For Ages 13 - 17. This course is required for any future teen sewing workshops.
Service Description
This course is a beginning introduction to sewing with a machine for teens ages 13 to 17. No experience is necessary, nor do you have to own a sewing machine. During this course, students will learn: Basic Sewing Studio Safety Machine Parts and Vocabulary How to Sew Straight Seams How to Maintain a Measured Seam Allowance How to Follow a Pattern How to Cut with a Rotary Cutter They will also make a standard pillowcase during this class using a French Seam and learning an Over-Cast Stitch. Required Tools: Scissors (for trimming threads) Pins (not Ball Point) Seam Ripper Neutral Thread (white, beige, grey) If your teen has a machine they would like to learn on, you are most welcome to bring it. We need to make sure it is in good working order prior to class. Please make sure there is a new 80/12 universal needle inserted. If they have a rotary cutter, ruler (6" x 24") and mat (at least 18" x 24"), there is plenty of room on their table to have a cutting station. Fabric for the pillowcase project is included in the cost of this course. All supplies are available at Stitched in Schertz.
